Since many preformers preformed in these bars, they were force to move elsewhere in order to make a living, and they came to Chicago Illinois. Many preformers then played in the Speakeasies or illegal bars of Chicago. This style of Jazz also utilized different instruments such as

Swing
------
1940-1950, Swing bands were much larger then other Jazz bands. The era was know as the Big Band era. Music was much more organized in these bands, as it was harder for all the members to improvise at once, and still make sense. Much more percussion, and Drums were used in the bands. In the end, Rock & Roll replaced Swing in popularity

Many preformers had to be very skilled if they wanted ot even try to play Bebop music. Bebop ended in the early 50's, because of others who preffered a more conservative style of music.
