What is Jazz? Jazz is defined in the dictonary as "American music developed especially from
ragtime and blues and characterized by propulsive syncopated rhythms, polyphonic ensemble playing, varying degrees of improvisation,
and often deliberate distortions of pitch and timbre" Jazz has had many different styles. These include Ragtime, Dixieland,
and Chicago and New Orleans style Jazz. Jazz has been around for over 100 years, and is still going strong.
There have been many famous Jazz musicians and Jazz bands. Some of these musicians include, Louis Armstrong,
he was a famous Jazz trumpet player, Scott Joplin, he was a famous ragtime musician who made songs like The Entertainer, Maple
Leaf Rag, and The Great Chrush Collision, and Glenn Miller who was a Big Band Leader
